Spring cleaning isn’t just for closets and inboxes. At Springshare HQ, it’s time for March Maintenance Magic – a dedicated moment to review your security game plan and make sure everything is running exactly as it should.

Strong security doesn’t happen by accident. It happens through small, consistent actions taken by your whole team. A few simple updates now can significantly reduce risk later – and that’s a win for everyone.

We’re just as committed as you are to protecting patron and staff data. We encourage you to review Springshare’s Privacy Policy and note that we continue to maintain SOC 2 Type II compliance. But remember – security is a shared responsibility. Let’s make sure your entire team is part of the plan.

Quick Ways to Strengthen Your Security

Schedule Account Maintenance Reviews

Think of this as routine system housekeeping.

  1. Make sure you have multiple admin-level users. If someone retires or changes roles, you don’t want to scramble for access.
  2. Review user permissions quarterly. Confirm that each staff member has the right level of access – no more, no less. Removing outdated accounts and adjusting permissions reduces unnecessary exposure.
  3. Plan for succession. If team transitions are on the horizon, now is the time to document processes and ensure continuity.

A quick review today can prevent major headaches tomorrow! 🌟

Strengthen Your Password Practices

Passwords are still one of the most common security vulnerabilities – but they’re also one of the easiest to improve.

  • Use strong, unique passwords for every account.
  • Avoid password reuse across systems.
  • Consider a password manager instead of sticky notes or spreadsheets.
  • Never share login credentials. Access should always be assigned properly through account roles.

Remember: your system is only as strong as its weakest password. 💪

Multi-Factor Authentication is Now Required

Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) became a required step for all LibApps users on December 8, 2025. Thank you for helping keep your system secure!

MFA adds an extra layer of protection beyond your email and password. During login, users must complete an additional verification step using either an authenticator app on their smartphone or a code sent to their email. That second factor significantly reduces the risk of unauthorized access if a password is ever compromised.

You can choose between two methods:

  • Authenticator Apps (Google, Microsoft, LastPass, Duo, Authy, and others)
  • Email Code authentication

Security is a Team Effort

Cybersecurity isn’t a one-time task. It’s an ongoing practice.

Checking in with your team, reinforcing best practices, and scheduling periodic reviews keeps everyone aligned and accountable. Small, proactive steps now build a more resilient system over time.

So this March, take a little time for Maintenance Magic. A stronger, more secure setup starts with you.
