How Springshare Prioritizes Accessibility
By Hannah on September 10, 2025
At Springshare, we know how important accessibility is for libraries, which is why we are committed to ensuring our products meet the latest guidelines! Staying up to date means that we continuously evaluate our tools – especially as we add new features and make improvements.
2025 has been a big year for us as we announced three new products (LibMaps, LibSites, and LibConnect Pro), exciting integrations, and numerous user-focused product updates. As libraries prepare to meet upcoming ADA Title II requirements, you might have questions about accessibility – so let’s dive in!
Where to Find Accessibility Info
- A great place to start is by reading our accessibility statement, where you'll see that we use the World Wide Web Consortium’s Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 as our guide, with a goal of meeting Level AA standards.
- We've also made our Voluntary Product Accessibility Template (VPAT) reports available in the Springshare Lounge, which give details about each individual product. Please note that we are actively running accessibility checks on our newest tools and these VPATs will soon be updated to include LibMaps and LibSites.
Is accessibility a top priority for your library, but you need a little help? Reach out to our Consulting Team about doing a LibGuides Accessibility Review! Our Springy Experts will suggest changes and demonstrate how to use LibGuides to make those edits.
How to Make Your Content Accessible in Springy Tools
Accessibility is a team effort, which is why we provide resources to help our users make their content as accessible as possible. Check out these great sessions from our training team:
There are also a variety of free online resources that you can use to ensure you are publishing inclusive content:
- Alt Text Decision Tree - Ever spent too much time mulling over whether an image needs alt text? This site provides clear guidelines for making an informed choice!
- WebAIM Color Contrast Checker - Easily check your text with this tool to see if it's legible based on your chosen text and background color.
- Colorblindly Chrome Extension - View your site through a simulation of how it looks for people with color blindness.
- WAVE Browser Extensions - This tool allows you to evaluate web content for accessibility issues directly within your Chrome, Firefox, or Edge browsers.
If you have any questions or feedback regarding the accessibility of our products, please don't hesitate to contact our support team!
