One of the hardest parts of the research process is managing, storing, and organizing your research including your personal notes. You know you've read an article, ten articles ago, that you need to cite but you can't remember exactly what article it was - you've read so many! And goodness, now that you've found that article - you need a few more just like it - and now you need help finding those citations.
Cue LibChat integration with PowerNotes! PowerNotes has a browser extension tool that helps researchers keep track of and organize all their research - including the ability to highlight areas of a webpage and write notes. And with our native LibChat integration, your patrons can get help from a live librarian right from the PowerNotes browser plugin! Libraries that subscribe to our LibAnswers 24/7/365 Chat Cooperative can rest assured that their patrons will have access to research help anytime and literally anywhere - even at 3am the night before a paper is due.
Here's a scenario.
You have a graduate student named Sally who is doing research on childhood obesity in America. She's using PowerNotes to organize all of her online articles, her personalized notes on those articles, and searching those notes for her thesis. During her research, she finds a citation for an article she has to have... but she's not having any luck finding the full-text version. With LibChat integration inside PowerNotes, she can launch a live chat with your library (or our 24/7/365 chat cooperative backup, if you subscribe) to ask for help finding the article... without ever having to navigate to the library website.
Here's a quick video on how PowerNotes works.
Researchers can save all their online content into customizable topics and add personalized in-text notes. As soon as the user saves content, PowerNotes automatically generates a citation for their works cited page.
Launch LibChat right from PowerNotes on any webpage.
As researchers are using their PowerNotes browser extension, they can chat live with their library right from their browser. They don't need to navigate to any library-owned website to start a live chat.

This is Just the Beginning
Our partnership with PowerNotes started with LibChat, but this is just the beginning. We plan on deepening our integration across several Springshare tools. Stay tuned, there's more to come!
This partnership sounds great, and I’m guessing that the integration requires an institutional subscription to PowerNotes. If so, could that be stated for the sake of transparency? Thanks!
Hi Aimee,
Our apologies for not being clearer here! We did mention it in the official press release announcing the partnership but it must have slipped through the cracks here. You are correct, this integration requires that an institution has both a LibAnswers and a PowerNotes subscription.
All the best,
Springy Lilly
