Multi-factor authentication (MFA) is one of the gold standards for safeguarding web accounts against hackers, data breaches, and other online threats. At Springshare, we prioritize your data security with unwavering dedication and are proud to be SOC II Compliant. Enabling MFA is the best and easiest way to protect your system today, so let's dive into everything you need to know about getting it set up in LibApps.
MFA is a multi-step account login process that requires an additional step beyond entering your email and password. For example, users might be asked to enter a code retrieved from an authenticator app on their phone or an email. Adding a second form of authentication acts as a shield against unauthorized account access in the event that your password is ever compromised.
There are quite a few different methods of MFA out there, but here at Springshare we are exclusively using two methods:
We highly recommend going with the authenticator app option because it is more secure and can speed up your login process. If your institution already has Single Sign-On (SSO) enabled and you would like to use MFA, you will need to contact your SSO provider/Admin to turn it on within your SSO tool.
If you log in to any Springshare product using LibApps, you will need to enable MFA before the end of the year.
Now is a great time to enable MFA to take advantage of its next-level protection and learn the ins and outs before it becomes mandatory. Plus, to stay ahead of the game and get everybody on board at once, admins can require all users to enable it immediately. As always, if you run into hiccups, we've got your back!
