Happy LibGuides Day! 19 Years of Springshare (and Counting)

April 30 is a big day on the Springshare calendar – the anniversary of the day, back in 2007, when a single product launched and started something much bigger than anyone anticipated.

That product was LibGuides. And this year, we're celebrating the 19th LibGuides Day.

One product. Then two. Then sixteen.

In 2007, Springshare consisted of just LibGuides – a tool designed to help librarians organize and share resources in a way that actually made sense for their users. It caught on. Libraries told other libraries. Feature requests rolled in. New opportunities emerged – and we built for those, too.

Fast-forward to today, Springshare's product suite has grown to 16 tools covering everything from research guides and reference support to event scheduling, data collection, room booking, and beyond. What started as one answer to one problem has become a full ecosystem built around the work libraries do every day.

19 Years in Numbers

• 530,000+ support questions answered. From quick how-tos to complex troubleshooting, our Support Team has been there for every question – big or small – for 19 years and counting.
• 2,500+ training sessions delivered. Software is only as good as the people who know how to use it – so we've never stopped investing in training. Whether you're brand new to Springshare or a longtime power user, there's always something new to learn.
• 8,000+ institutions served across 100+ countries. LibGuides Day isn't just a Springshare milestone – it's a day that belongs to the global library community that made all of this possible.

The LibGuides Community

One of the things we're most proud of isn't a product feature – it's what librarians have built together. The LibGuides Community is a space where librarians share their guides, discover what peers are creating, and find inspiration across institutions and disciplines. Today, it's home to nearly 953,000 guides created by over 324,000 librarians across 5,724 institutions in 104 countries. Those aren't just platform stats – they're a testament to the generosity of a profession that has always believed in sharing knowledge openly.
