We are thrilled to welcome our guest presenter Jeff Graveline, who is a Professor and Associate Dean for Research and Scholarly Communication at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) Libraries. Jeff also serves as Director of the UAB Libraries' Office of Scholarly Communication. He is involved nationally with ALA and ACRL and served as President of the Alabama Library Association. Jeff’s research interests focus on scholarly communication, specifically the intersection between copyright and higher education.
This background led him to develop a transformative agreements program at UAB libraries with a variety of publishers. As this initiative gained traction, it became clear how important it was to showcase the value of these agreements to the university. Jeff developed a system for tracking these crucial statistics using LibInsight. This detailed tracking has produced a dynamic dashboard, highlighting how the agreements saved $1.8 million (and growing!) in APCs for researchers from across UAB departments.
