Code Release: New Features Coming Your Way!

Written by Sarah | May 8, 2026

The May product releases are on their way! These releases will be live in all regions by the end of the day on Friday, May 15, 2026.

LibAnswers

  • Left Menu Navigation - We’re moving LibAnswers to a UI that better meshes with our newer products. You’ll see sleeker, easier to navigate menu options and a much more modern overall look. To preview and switch to the new UI, admins can head to Admin > System Settings > Look and Feel > New Navigation.

  • New Hours SMS Autoresponders - We’re adding the ability to set up SMS hours autoresponders that stay in sync with your LibCal hours, so you and your patrons can get the most up to date hours without managing 2 hours systems! To create these SMS auto-responders, queue admins can head to Admin > Queues > Edit Queue > SMS > SMS Automatic Keywords and click the option to + Add LibCal Hours Autoresponse.

  • Privacy Scrub Update - You can now set different retention periods for various LibAnswers content. Rather than have one giant scrub with one available retention period, we’ve separated the scrubs into 4 functional areas: PII data, Full Scrub, Attachment Scrub, and Internal Chat Scrub, with further content breakdowns by LibAnswers area (chat, tickets, etc) within each of those areas. We’ve also made it possible to scrub file attachments independently from other data in your site, with its own retention period.

To use Square to accept electronic transactions for billable bookings or registrations, head to Admin > Manage > Manage > Billing > Settings > Square and enter the necessary credentials to get started.

  • We’ve made many additional improvements to LibCal’s accessibility, ensuring a better and more equitable experience for all! Check out the blog post for more details.

LibStaffer

We have some really exciting new features and integrations to share that help connect Incident & Issue Tracking with the Springshare suite of tools!

  • LibMaps Integration: We’re excited to bring you the ability to link a case to a LibMaps location when triaging or managing the case, to help you identify hotspot areas where incidents and issues occur. We’ve also included a new “Hotspots” report for each location, which will display a map(s) with pins displaying all the spots where issues/incidents occurred in a given time range. This is hugely helpful information for any library that tracks incidents, and helps reveal problematic physical areas in your library that could use additional monitoring and attention.

  • LibAnswers Ticket Integration: We’re also thrilled to bring you the ability to create incident or issue case records directly from a LibAnswers ticket! When responding to a ticket in LibAnswers, if the ticket includes a report of an incident or issue that requires follow up by your Incident and Issues Management system, you’ll now have the ability to automatically create a case record in the Incidents and Workflows module with the click of a button. This will link the LibAnswers ticket to the Incident & Issues case, and transfer all relevant information directly to the new module.

  • LibCal Integration: If a user receives a censure or suspension through an Incidents and Issues case, they will automatically be banned in LibCal for the period of the censure, so you can easily prevent folks who have received a suspension from reserving LibCal spaces and equipment, event bookings, appointments, and tickets and passes.

  • Lost & Found: We’re also happy to bring you a new Lost & Found feature to track items either found or lost by staff or others. With this new feature, you will be able to enter records for items reported as lost or those that have been found and turned in to try and find the proper owner. When items are returned to their rightful owner their associated records can be marked as resolved but will remain in the system for historical and reporting purposes.
